Vinashin Affiliate Launches 53,000-Ton Cargo Ship for Thai Firm

Ha Long Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of the biggest shipbuilder Vinashin Business Group, has successfully launched the 53,000-ton cargo ship for Thoresen Thai Agencies Pcl, Thailand’s second-largest shipping company.

The ship named Thor Breeze is the 10th in a series of 53,000-ton cargo vessels that Ha Long shipbuilder has built for foreign customers and the 2nd ship that the company has built for the Thai firm.

The 190-meter long and 32.26-meter wide ship, designed by Danish firm Carl Bro and certified by Norwegian classification society DNV, has a total capacity of 65,700 cubic meters. ...More

Ha Long Shipbuilder of the Vietnam Ship Industry Group successfully launched a 53,000-tone ship named THOR BREEZE on April 29th in Quang Ninh.

The ship is 190m long, 32,26m wide, 17.50m high and has a tonnage of 65,700 sqm and the main engine of MAN B&W 9.480 KW.

The ship has double decks and 5 holds of cargo. It is also equipped with 4 cranes, allowing self- loading and unloading cargo, and runs at 14 nautical miles per hour. ...More

Thoresen Thai Rights Offering Oversubscribed

Bangkok: Thoresen Thai Agencies successfully raised THB3.964bn yesterday to fund its business expansion plans through a rights offering.

Existing shareholders were given the opportunity to subscribe to two newly issued shares at a price of THB14.00 per share for every five existing shares they owned and were allowed to subscribe for excess rights of up to 50% of their owned shares. The offering was oversubscribed by nearly 8%.

Shareholders who participated in the offering will also receive warrants at a ratio of one warrant to two newly subscribed shares. Each warrant has a 30-month term and is exercisable into one newly issued share at a price of THB17.00. ...More

TTA raises $133m to expand fleet

Bangkok: Thoresen Thai Agencies (TTA) has raised a considerable THB3.96bn ($133.15m) through a rights issue to fund its plans for dry bulk and offshore drilling fleet renewal.

Chalermchai Mahagitsiri, TTA executive vice chairman, said the company will now focus on identifying and purchasing assets for its dry bulk shipping and offshore services businesses.

Dry bulk shipping vessels, both new and secondhand, are becoming advantageously priced, as the business remains at or near the bottom of its industry cycle, according to TTA. The purchase of assets today will allow TTA to invest counter-cyclically, in anticipation of an upturn in the next 18 months, the company believed. ...More
